Lindsley Excavating

Topsoil & finish grading. Complete the site.

Lindsley Excavating provides topsoil placement and finish grading as part of construction and property-improvement work in Central New York. Send the restoration limits, proposed elevations and material requirements so delivery, placement and final shaping can be clearly defined.

Distinguish subgrade from the topsoil layer

Topsoil does not replace structural fill beneath a building, roadway or pavement. Identify where the work calls for compacted fill and where it calls for topsoil. Show the specified finished grades and topsoil depth. Correcting the underlying grade and spreading the final layer are separate operations that should be accounted for.

Define material supply and quantities

Tell us whether topsoil is already stockpiled on site or must be supplied and hauled in. Provide the measured area, specified depth and available material information. Stockpile access, screening requirements, debris and unsuitable material can affect placement. The estimate should identify supply, hauling, placement and surplus handling rather than treat them as one undefined load count.

Finish around drainage and completed work

Final grading must coordinate with foundations, pavement edges, drainage structures and the surrounding ground. Identify finished surfaces to protect and equipment-access limits. Topsoil and grading can be quoted without landscape planting or new concrete. Seeding, straw, erosion-control blankets and other stabilization are separate items when requested and included in the written scope.

Project questions

Can you use topsoil already on the site?

We can review the available material and access for reuse. Suitability, handling and any screening requirements are confirmed for the project.

Does topsoil placement automatically include landscaping?

No. Planting and other landscaping are separate scopes. The proposal identifies the grading, topsoil and any agreed seeding or stabilization work.

Can you correct grades where water collects?

Send photos and the location of the problem. We review the grades and drainage together; topsoil alone is not a solution for every wet area or outlet problem.
